OK - so I haven't posted in soooo long. It bothers me whenever I sign in to read other people's blogs. The longer I wait to post, the more I want my post to be great, so I put it off. I don't have that kind of time right? Really it's the same way I am with my journal.
Or maybe it is because it is January. Freezing, cold, desolate, January. No more fun Christmas shopping. In fact, no room in the budget for any shopping. No more fun Christmas treats. No room in the diet for any treats at all. No more holiday sleeping in and lazing around. January is all work work work. I have often felt bad for January, I mean wouldn't we all love it more if we just moved Christmas to the end of January.
Anyway - Christmas 2010 was great. And now that the weather is improving ( it was -12 degrees this morning - we are in the teens!)and my first deadline for my project is past, I'll actually start posting about it.
The picture above is one that Andrew took before Christmas when he did a fire with the girls. Doesn't it look cozy? It was. Doesn't our tree look crooked? It was - and probably will next year too.
We tried to recreate the coziness last night, minus the tree of course, with a Family Home Evening fire. I have been watching the BBC Mini Series Cranford and it made me want to have a 1800's night. However, since we had this Christmas fire, we have been blessed with such a lot of a lot Fun January weather ( snow, cold, wind, snow, cold...you get the picture). Our chimney was blocked with snow. Smoke went everywhere. My whole house smells like a campfire.
On a side note - we need to change the batteries in our smoke alarms.
Happy January everyone.

Ah the smell of camp fire - brings back memories doesn't it!! That was a good test for the smoke alarms. Your room does look very cozy - I'm missing December especially with this cold, cold January brrrrr.
I LOVE Cranford! You need to watch Wives and Daughters now, and of course my favorite....North and South! :)
I love your fire! We're afraid to use ours because our landlady gave us so many strict instructions about it, better just not to use it. :) I miss our cozy Calgary fireplace!
