Thanksgiving 2010

Lat weekend was Thanksgiving and so like all thanksgivings, we were out at Andrew's parents farm out in by Rocky Mountain House. It is always so fun to get together with family and even more magical for my city kids out at the farm. This year the weather was AMAZING ( last year it felt like Christmas).

Here are some of the highlights :

1.Jackie's favourite moment: Friday night was clear and warm, so I took the girls outside to read their bed time stories. We turned off all the lights, and the stars we so beautiful. My kids have never seen stars like that, because in the winter it is usually too cold to hang out looking at the stars, and in the summer, they are never awake late enough. When Andrew turned off the last light, Jackie gasped. " Ohh Alice, it is just exactly like space".

2.Alice's favourite moment: Saturday afternoon was a hayride. The kids were in heaven. They would jump off and Grandpa would speed up, they'd run to catch up and help each other up. On again, off again. Over and over and over again. Everyone was covered in hay. I couldn't get over how grown up Alice and Jackie are now, Alice was 4 the last time we did this.

Grandpa on the tractor.
Alice soaking it all in.

3. Eve's favourite part: Opening presents. Yes, we do Christmas exchanges at thanksgiving with the Rasmussen side, because Andrew's parents go to Australia in November and stay there till spring. Eve was so excited to open presents. Even the socks she got thrilled her. Jackie, on the other hand, had scarf envy ( she liked Alice's more than the one she got) and cried and cried. I love that. She has since come around and has proudly worn her scarf to school several times.

4. Andrew's favourite part: Not sure. Either him winning his own snuggy back in the white elephant gift exchange (no one really wanted it - such a surprise) or the slide show presentation his parents did of their tour if Cheetsaneetsah (no idea how to spell that ) from their Mexico trip.
5. My favourite part: Sunday night Alice, Jackie and Jaylin got to sleep in the camper all by themselves. They were so excited and felt so grown up. And that meant of Monday I got to sleep in until 8:30 - instead of getting up with them before 7 to help them be quiet. Yeah! And my other favourite part was the food of course. It is what thanksgiving is really about -- turkey and be thankful for turkey.
There were so many other great things - painting with the cousins, making hairclips for the girls, watching Eve Mason and Ethan jump on the trampoline over and over and over. Really, it was a blessed weekend. We are lucky. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving as well.

What a fun Thanksgiving! Emberly's highlight would have to be breaking her arm (not really, but it makes a great story!), and mine was being in Canada again! I wish it didn't have to be a 2 day trip and we could have made it up to Calgary. I miss you!
