A Haunted Birthday

Jackie is SIX. Finally. It always seems to her that her birthday takes FOREVER to get here. It seems like that a little to me as well. In my head, she has been six for a while. This was a monumental birthday - the first time in three year that Jackie didn't dress up like a princess. (yes!) A Haunted Halloween birthday was so much more fun. And as a bonus, we were the first house on our block to decorate for Halloween.

Jackie LOVES planning parties and loves making friends - consquently the guest list continues to grow. With cousins, church friends, kindergarden friends and grade one friends, and sisters - there were 11 guests and 15 kids there I think. But I agree with Jackie - all the kids are so fun. I think she has great taste in friends - then again, maybe all six year olds are great.

Jackie was the planner of the party and decided on crafts and activities. Alice was a super big help and planned the whole treasure hunt by herself , and even ran it, once I started it out. Andrew's only job was to keep Eve happy, a near impossible task for anyone, and really someone needs to be assigned to keep him happy when there are 15 kids running around.. Next year I will make it even more clear to him that he DOES NOT NEED TO BE THERE. He made it through, but just barely I think.

6 is a big year, with grade one and learning to read etc. Jackie has adapted pretty well so far. She continues to be happy and fun, proclaiming that "this is the best day ever", until she is tired and sad and then " her life is ruined". She is still a bit of a drama queen. She prefers drawing to coloring, and story games to board games. She loves to teach Eve things and to walk home from the bus stop with just Alice. She is learning to play basketball, still loves climbing the doorframes all the time, and can't resist beautiful dresses. She is a sweetheart and we all love her. Especially her Dad, who as a middle child, is always worrying about Jackie.

What a fun looking birthday! I love that she is a natural party planner (I wonder where she gets that from....) Maybe she could come over and help us plan Ember's party next week. We think we're going to copy Alice's chef party, maybe next year we'll copy Jackie's halloween party! ;)
