Confession:
I love the Academy Awards. I love the dresses, the glamour, the cheesy jokes, the production numbers and the tearful acceptance speeches. I love the movies too - but find that even if I haven't seem most of them ( like this year) I still love it regardless. Growing up, my family always watched them together. We never really watched the Superbowl, but we never missed the Oscars, which my brother Greg calls the "Gay Superbowl". Now, we are all spread out - Toronto, New York, Utah,
Airdrie, Calgary - we can't watch it all together, but the next best thing is a cut throat
Oscar pool. Now, the day after the results are in. Sam and Nicole have been crowned the winners, Dad came in second and I came third - at least I made the podium, or as they say at the
Oscar " it was a honor just being nominated".
Last night did not disappoint. The host Hugh Jackman was great! The production numbers were fantastic and the best thing was sitting down to the computer this morning and having 16 emails full of highlights, opinions and favourite moments. I love my family! And though I watched much of the night alone, I look forward to the future when my girls will be able to watch the whole thing with me. My husband, sadly, prefers the actual Superbowl.

I tried to get dotty's attention during the big musical theatre tribute, but she was too busy with Oliver! Next year we will watch it at our house free from distractions!
That is so cool that your whole family watches it!! What a fun tradition. I don't think I have ever watched the whole thing. But I do enjoy looking at all the gowns!
