The kids had a PD day on Friday and since it was Victoria Day on Monday, we had a four day weekend. It was great - these are the highlights
Friday: Andrew quietly got up early and went to his lecture at the University. I have no idea when the kids got up, all I know is they left me sleep in til 9:00. BLISS
We went to let's play with the our friends the Romerils. It was a great time. I love when the kids are all happy and it is always fun to talk to Jenny. And we only got in trouble for eating the food we brought in instead of buying it there AFTER the kids had eaten. My kids were having so much fun that even after the Romeril's left they still wanted to play, which allowed me to finish the book club book. Perfect.
Friday nights - Andrew was out at Grad and so we had a kids movie night. 8 kids. Tons of popcorn. So much giggling. great.
Saturday: It was SUNNY! We spent the morning cleaning up the yard. Alice was an especially good weeder. Then the kids went to a friends house and Andrew and I got to have a date IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY. It was great. We went to lunch and went shopping and found a 7 dollar bike for Eve at Goodwill, and some other little things for the kids. Meanwhile the kids were having the time of their life jumping on a trampoline and riding bikes in Fish creek part.
Saturday night I had book club. We discussed Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. I serious love books like that.
Sunday we went to Sam and Karen's for a BBQ for my Dad's birthday. We ate way to much, but that was Karen's fault. The food was too good. I am a psychology nerd.
Monday, was cold and drizzly. We played board games then me and the girls went shopping. Jackie got a swimsuit, Alice got some shorts, and I, miraculously got a dress for Greg's wedding. Alice was particularly excited about the idea of finding a dress for me. She was a great little shopping assistant. Getting me different sizes, giving her opinion. The dress I ended up buying she liked right away. This is what was said in the dressing room:
Alice: Mom - that dress makes you look good, way skinnier.
Eve: Yeah, but when you take it off, you'll be fat again.
Makes me want to wear it everywhere.
Then Eve and I went to her soccer game. It was a cold and windy and wet but she is hardcore and we got home early enough to snuggle all together and watch a movie. Then when the kids were in bed I was able to finish reading Cinderella Ate My Daughter, which I will have to post about sometime. Also a great book.
Anyway, the whole weekend just felt like summer. We all can't wait for those days when we can sleep in till 8 or 9 everyday, and decide that morning what we want to do that day. One more month!
