Last Week: The arrival of winter
Last week it snowed. I MEAN IT SNOWED!!!!! I felt good because I was prepared. I had all the mitts and hats found. But I hadn't planned on the crazy amount of snow we got and the super cold temperatures. I think it is nice when we get to ease into winter. I had neglected to find the snow pants. When I tried, I discovered that Alice's are lost. A whole pair of snow pants! A mitt I understand. A scarf, I've been there, but snow pants? And the sad part is, they might be somewhere in the house. I might have just stored them somewhere. Where, I don't know, because I have literally torn all storage areas apart. But as soon as we buy new ones, they will appear.
Alice's snow boots are too small.
"Thank goodness" she says, "because I would never wear those ugly boots anyway".
'You picked them out", I say. " Like 2 years ago, cmon, I would NEVER wear something like that now".
Her ski jacket was too small too. She has her long brown coat, but that doesn't work for -20. She was cold so she wore her only turtle neck over other shirts three days in a row!! I decided I had to get her a new coat, and possibly a new turtleneck. She found a coat she loved at Zellers, but it was the wrong size. So last Thursday I went from Zellers to Zellers in search of the perfect jacket. It was nowhere. I began to believe that we had all just imagined it. The coat she wanted was purple and black. By the third store I had completely forgotten what it looked like. I ended up getting her one that was purple and turquoise, which she was thankfully OK with. And some new boots that look like snow boarding boots. Which look awesome, but are a little stiff. She has borrowed snow pants that are too small. But she is warm, and that is good because is had been colder than -20 ALL WEEK. This morning it was like -39 with the wind chill. I know what you guys who live south of us are thinking, but don't be too jealous.
The snow is pretty, and everyday last week the kids went sledding on the drive way.
It would be cheaper to live in Australia.

Yes it has been soooooo cold. Today Jeff heard on the radio that Calgary was the second most cold place in the world - CRAZY. I'm glad that you found an outfit for Alice! Can't wait to see it.
You know me, I actually am jealous of the wonderful snow you have! I know that realistically in the middle of the bad weather I probably wouldn't love it so much, but it sounds so cozy and holiday-ish!
