Nutcracker

This weekend a Christmas dream came true. We had a girls night out at the Nutcracker. We had to travel long way through freezing temperatures, but it was worth it. It felt like quite the party in the van on the way there and on the way back - with snacks, and blankets, and little girl giggles.
It was a production put on my a ballet school and it was really quite well done. I can't imagine all the work that went into it. The costumes were beautiful - and it all just took you back in time. So I'm posting the other pictures in sepia.
Jackie was inspired by the performance. She did "ballet runs" out to the car - through the freezing blizzard!
It was so wonderful to have Jessica and Stephanie, Megan and Ember, and Emma and with us. Girls night out is always more fun with friends and family. Thanks Steph for getting such great seats!

Not sure what I enjoyed most -watching the Nutcracker, or watching the girls enjoy the nutcracker. There were so many cute little kids in the audience and so many cute little kids in the audience - and Santa even came at the end. Too fun. The next day the girls were talking about how Evie will be old enough to come next year. Looks like we might have a new tradition!

Overheard at the Nutcracker:
Jackie: The people in this play are so good at not talking. There was no talking in the whole thing!
Jackie: (gasp)"Oh, I want to be one of those girls"
Jackie: " The Nutcracker prince has a big nose, but the nutcracker doll has a big nose too, so that must be why".
