Sisters are special. They are your first best friends delivered to you through birth. I am very grateful that my girls are such good friends and I hope they continue to be friends as they get older. I think they will because they certainly seem to understand each other. Jackie made a really cool nest at her preschool with plaster, twigs and whatever else she found in the yard. Her teacher put 2 quail eggs it in. Jackie was so excited to take it home. She wanted to be sure to keep it safe from Evie who she knew would wreck it. She asked me where I put it, I said," on the dining room table, so Evie can't get it." ( Evie had never gotten up on that table before).
The next day I came home from working out to find a very upset Jackie. Eve had learned how to get up on the dining room table and had broken the eggs. Jackie was sad, but she wasn't mad at Evie.
" Mom, it was your fault, because I told you Eve would want my nest".
I thought that was about right, since she had told me she was sure Evie would try hard to get her nest. She felt better when I told her we could get her some more eggs from the store.
Here is a scene from Breakfast the Next morning:
Jackie: ( sounding super happy and excited) I can't believe that we can buy more quail eggs! I didn't realize that they were at the store. Yesterday I was do sad because
Alice ( cutting Jackie off ): Don't say it Jackie. I know what you are going to say - don't say it.
Jackie: Why not?
Alice: If you say it, you will start crying again.
Jackie: No I won't. , See ( still smiling)-Yesterday I was sad because Evie broke my eggs...(pause - tries to keep smiling, but her eyes turn red and start welling up - she hunches her shoulders and starts to cry). It just is so sad that my eggs are broken...
Alice: I told you, you shouldn't have said it....
So, Jackie knows Evie, and Alice knows Jackie. I don't have a story to demonstrate Eve's insight into her sisters soul. But she does know me pretty well - she knows that I might try to steal some of her cookie. If I do steal some she yells," Hey, no, no, no..."

Dot is realizing that I eat things too. I ate the last bit of her granola bar last week and she still brings it up!
What a cute story! That's funny about the quail eggs, Jackie was telling me all about that, and she was so relieved that you could get her some more eggs at the store! Do you blow them out or something? I've seen those quail eggs at the store and they're so cute, I just don't know what I'd do with them. Eat them? Hmmmmmmm.
I love the part when Alice says see you shouldn't have said it. Those girls are so cute!! Sisters are the best!!
