Step Back in Time

I got to go with Alice's class when they went to Heritage Park on Friday. We dressed up in pioneer type clothing and then Alice rode her horse to school. She left her horse in the stable for the day and then split off from half of her class.
We spent the morning at the Thorpe House and the Prince House. The kids got the play with toys that the kids had back them and all of them loved handling the chamber pot. We then ate ( or didn't eat - depending on who you talk to ) our traditional lunch of a chunk of cheese, bread and butter, apple and boiled egg.
the afternoon was the highlight because we were in the schoolhouse with their teacher giving them a lesson like it was 1910. The kids got to try writing with quill and ink, use a slate and chalk, and learned a new game ou1tside. We were so into the olden times that we came home and watched half on Anne of Green Gables. Alice thought Anne was a little weird, but Jackie felt like she was a kindred spirit since she was always talking, just like she does. It was a great time. The best thing about being with Alice's class is the chance I have to talk French with Alice without having her roll her eyes at me and complain that she already had to speak French all day at school. It was great - and made for a great start to the weekend.

I'm sooooooo jealous! Sounds like a fabulous field trip! You look great in your pioneer outfit, I love it. I'm glad she had such a fun time! (And I hope you had a great birthday evening yesterday!)
