Satisfying Sunday

It has been a really great Sunday. The weather is cold and rainy and we have felt warm and snuggly in our house. I pretty much alway love Sundays, but today was great for a number of reasons:

  1. Andrew didn't have an early morning meeting - the bishop is away on vacation, and when the bishop is away, the rest of PEC can play - or at least sleep in a little bit. It was nice to have the extra help getting ready, and fun to eat breakfast all together.
  2. I got to teach my Sunday school class and had extra students because so many teachers were away for the long weekend. I have to say that since girls camp, I have been in young women's withdrawal. Great to have so many in my class today.
  3. ALICE GAVE HER FIRST TALK. I will post the talk later. For those that don't know, Alice is really shy about performing anything, and completely freaked out the last time she was assigned something in primary - like a year ago. Today she was a little nervous at first, but handled it great. Having Jackie easily do a scripture last week helped. No one likes to be showed up by a little sister - or maybe it just helped her see that it wasn't that scary.
  4. I got to have a great nap!! The cold weather meant I could have lots of blankets. So cozy.
  5. I watched "the GingerBread Man" with Alice and Jackie, and got to see my 15 year old self "skip and hop round the working top ". For those that don't know,"the Gingerbread Man, was a kid's play my family put on when I was in grade 10. The girls loved seeing their aunts and uncles so young, and they were the perfect ages to follow the story line. Jackie loved Erin's character the best, because she was beautiful, Alice liked Mary's. It was a great trip down memory lane. Alice was amazed that Mary could be so good at sounding angry. She sure doesn't ever sound angry anymore -but I remembered that she used to have quite a temper! She certainly was able to draw on something for that performance.
  6. Andrew, and the girls, helped make a great sunday dinner - ham, potatoes etc. When we sat down to eat, Alice asked," is this a feast?".
  7. We finished off the day with reading the friend, where we read a story about Pirates. I learned that Alice misunderstood Andrew when he let her know that one of his ancestors had been a pirate. She is very convinced that her Grandpa Rasmussen was a pirate. She would not believe me and Andrew doesn't want to correct her - because it's pretty cool having a pirate for a dad.

Hope everyone else had a good Sunday. Happy labour day.

That sounds like the perfect day! YAY! I was Alice's favorite! Did she love that I lived in a teapot? I sure did, I thought it was the best teapot ever! Someday we should do a grandkids revival! elise can be ginger (oh the papers will have a hayday with the pedigree!), ella and jackie can be salt and pepper(of course they'll switch off being pepper each night), Alice can be the tea-bag...because it is her favorite (and it is the deepest and most difficult character...) and max can be cukoo (sp?) and Jack can be the mouse! Dotty, Audrey and Eve can be extras...maybe some sort of bear shaped honey container set that just waddles around!
