Cabing trip 2008

We had a great time on our trip and wish we were still at the Lake. Thanks Mom and Dad for all the boat rides, swimming time, and of course, the fantastic food and great conversation. Thanks Anne for all the help with the kids and for the fun swims and Rook and Catan games. Here are some high lights from the trip.

1. Alice is a speed demon on the stunt flyer, and even though it made her Dad kind on jealous, her favourite flyer friend was Anne.

2. Jackie's favourite thing at the cabin was watching water skiing in the boat. She also went on the stunt flyer with Anne and had fun, but her ride had a tragic end that resulted in Anne falling off and Jackie being completely submerged. We all all impressed that Jackie managed to stay holding on - ok we were all impressed except Jackie. She didn't like it one bit, and will probably remember it all year, just like she remembered me not waking her up for the fireworks. She also enjoyed playing on the cement steps ( which were in the water)
3. Eve loves the water. She a tough cookie and didn't mind the cold water at all. With the wetsuit on, she could stay in the water for quite a while before getting the purple lips. She loves splashing, getting thrown from daddy to mommy and just hangin out in the baby float. She was somewhat less enthusiastic about her life jacket.

4. This year I finally dove off the cliffs, the regular one, which was a little less scary since the water was high. That went well, so I dove off the higher one as well, but not the highest one - I'm brave but not crazy! I'll save that for a midlife crises. I also, despite extra weight and a shocking lack of muscle tone, was able to get up on one ski - never my strong suit.

5. Andrew created some pretty amazing dives off the dock, and I think eventually one the competition, since neither Anne nor I were willing to try the handstand dive or the inverted, change direction in the air dive. He even did my signature cartwheel dive. I didn't know Andrew could do a cartwheel! That was the only time I was in danger of peeing in the lake - I was laughing so hard. Wish you all were there.
