saying goodbye

The deal is closing on our condo tomorrow. We signed the papers at the lawyers this morning and this afternoon I am delivering the keys to the realtor. Andrew and I are soooo relieved the condo is sold and so happy to be living in our new house. I stopped by the condo this morning on the way to school to get the last odds and ends out. I took the girls because I thought it would be fun for them to say goodbye.

For Alice saying goodbye was not fun. She hadn't been emotional about leaving the condo before. Jackie had been the only one that has talked about missing the old house. When Alice realized that this was the last time she would see the inside of "our house", she kind of lost it. She wrapped herself in the curtains and cried. She wistfully opened the window in the living room and sighed. She hugged the wall and proclaimed that she just couldn't leave.

She was inconsolable until I said that maybe we could make friends with the new owners and they would let her come and visit the house every now and then.

I'm not sure if it was the best thing for Alice to say goodbye. It certainly wasn't the thing to do on the way to school ( Alice was too distraught to go to school after that). I am not someone to get very emotional about places. It was nice for me to see how much she loved it though. Because it was a great house. We were all very happy there.

As wonderful it is to have a great house. The best thing, is having our sweet girls to fill it.

Omigosh...I wonder where they get all the drama from? I love the description of the opening the window. Has she read Anne of Green Gables yet? Because she will LOVE it.
Can't wait to see your new house! And glad to see that it is finally warm in Calgary!
